Author of the memoir Destined: A Story of Resilience and Beating the Odds

Dear Reader,

Writing can allow us to reflect on the distance we’ve traveled. In doing so, we’re reminded of what we already have in many aspects of our lives.

We tend to focus on what’s missing in our lives, such as thinking about our next goal. Writing about where we’ve been shows us how far we’ve come.

One of our most important teachers is our own lives. So reflective writing allows us to learn more about ourselves and our place in the world. And if published, our writing can allow other people to see themselves through us.

The most common feedback I get from readers of my memoir Destined is that my story has inspired and encouraged them to believe that they too have more in themselves.

Do you know a community college or university student who would benefit from receiving my monthly newsletter with tips on learning, reading, writing, or resilience?

A Destined reader named Robinson wrote, “Destined reminded me that we are not defined by where we come from but by the vision we hold for our future.”

I highly recommend reflective writing. How do you engage in reflective writing?

I would love your review of Destined on Amazon. Your review can focus on answering the following question: Can you share how you were impacted by Destined?

Keep going!

The Destined Newsletter Celebrate Yourself || April 2026 || ISSUE #22 Author of the memoir Destined: A Story of Resilience and Beating the Odds Dear Reader, One way I’ve celebrated myself over the years is to reflect often on my days and appreciate the progress I’ve made. Celebrate yourself for...
